Do I have to do powerlifting to train at Bollodromo?
No. This is a strength and powerlifting gym, which means competition equipment and the judgement of people who have been doing this for years are available to you, whatever you train. People who compete — and there are plenty — and people who never will both train here, using the same equipment and sharing the same approach. The only thing we assume is that you are here to train seriously and to enjoy it.
Can I train for hypertrophy, not just the big lifts?
Yes, and many members do. There are dumbbells, cables and machines (seated row, chest press, leg press, hamstring curl, adductor, jammer arms), flat and adjustable benches, and over 3,000 kg of plates. You can run any hypertrophy programme without missing a thing — and with one advantage: in a gym built around strength, the equipment never runs out of road as you get stronger.
Who is Bollodromo for?
For anyone who comes to train, to improve and to enjoy doing it. It does not matter whether you compete, whether you are starting from zero or whether you have been training for fifteen years: you fit here if you want a place where people genuinely work hard, look after each other, and the equipment is up to standard. There are no classes and no spa: what you get is a strength gym with real character, not a leisure centre with facilities. And if you want someone alongside you, personal training is available. We built Bollodromo for ourselves, and it is open to anyone who wants the same thing.
Do you speak English?
Yes. The gym runs day to day in Spanish and Catalan, but you can sort out your membership, your induction and any question you have in English —
message us on WhatsApp and we will reply in English. Plenty of our members are international students and people who have moved to Tarragona for work, so you will not be the only one.
I am a beginner and I feel self-conscious. Will I stand out?
No. People here range from those who have never touched a barbell to competitors, and the unwritten rule is to respect anyone who is learning. The joining fee includes an initial assessment and a starter programme so you are not left guessing, and if you want ongoing support, personal training is available.
Is it crowded? Will I have to wait to train?
You can train in peace. There are 7 competition racks and plenty of stations to get your full session done, and 24/7 access spreads people across the whole day rather than concentrating everyone between 7pm and 9pm. We keep capacity in proportion to the space, because that is what keeps the place good for the people already inside.
Are there classes, a pool or a spa?
We are a pure strength gym: no group classes, no pool, no spa, and that is a deliberate decision. All the space and all the budget go into training equipment and into you being able to use it whenever you want, which is where the 7 competition racks, the 3,000+ kg of calibrated plates and the 24 hour access come from. If what you want is a good place to train, it is an excellent deal.
Can I try it before joining?
Yes. The
day pass costs €15, gives full 24 hour access, and is credited in full against your first month if you join. You are also welcome to come and be shown around with no obligation:
get in touch and we will arrange a time.
Where are you and is there parking?
We are at Calle Granit 16, Nave 1, Polígono Riu-Clar (Tarragona, 43005), with free parking at the door. We are a few minutes' drive from Reus, Vila-seca, La Canonja, Constantí, Bonavista, Torreforta and Campclar, and close to the Riu-Clar and Francolí industrial estates.
