Moving somewhere new is mostly admin, and finding a gym is usually the part that gets postponed for a month. This page exists to make it the easy one.
You can do all of it in English
The gym runs day to day in Spanish and Catalan — that is the room you will be training in, and most people are happy to help you pick up the words for it. But signing up, your induction, your starter programme and any question you have can all be handled in English. Message us on WhatsApp and we will reply in English.
No long contract
There is no minimum term, so a semester or an eight-month posting is not a problem. You can change plan when your schedule changes and stop when you leave.
The one thing worth knowing in advance: there is a €30 joining fee, and it is refunded once you complete your 7th consecutive month. If you are here for a single term you will not reach that, so budget for it as a real €30 — we would rather say so now than have you find out at the end.
Where the gym actually is
Calle Granit 16, Nave 1, in Polígono Riu-Clar — the industrial estate on the south-west side of the city, on the same side of town as Bonavista, Torreforta and Campclar, with free parking at the door.
Being on an industrial estate is exactly why there is room for seven racks and a set of platforms. It is not a city-centre location and it is not pretending to be.
What you are walking into
A strength gym, open 24 hours. No classes, no pool, no spa — all the space goes into equipment and into you being able to use it whenever you want. That suits an unpredictable timetable better than almost anything else: you can train at 7am before a lecture or at 1am after a shift, and it is the same room either way.
It is also, honestly, one of the easier ways to meet people here. Everyone in the room chose to be in it, most people know each other by name, and turning up three times a week for a month does more for that than any welcome event. See what the place actually looks like or read why it was built.
Getting here
Ten minutes from campus
Both URV campuses and the city centre are about the same short drive away, and there is free parking at the door — which is not something the gyms in the centre can offer you.
